This past weekend on the way to the Miami Mtn Dew NBA 3x Tournament hosted by NBA Hall-of-Famer Gary Payton; a couple of detours were made before reaching the tournament held at the National YoungArts Foundation. The first stop on the list was a pop-up shop in the Wynwood Art District called The Salty Donut. According to the Business Insider, The Salty Donut is ranked the fifth best donut store in the nation. After waiting two hours for the shop to open (it only opens Fri.-Sun., from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – or until they sell-out), I tried my first maple-bacon donut. Surprisingly, the combination was “very” good. Since the pop-up shop was in Wynwood, and all of the walls had art on them I decided to look around (hence the photos below). After eating and sight-seeing, I headed over to the tournament to check out the talent. Upon arrival, there were several games going on – on several different courts. Due to the plethora of talent, selecting a game to watch was not difficult. In addition to the games, there were several performances by artists such as David Garibaldi, and rapper Fat Joe.
